Gregory A. Stainer, M.D., F.A.C.S., LASIK Eye Surgeon
LASIK eye surgeon Gregory A. Stainer, M.D., has been in private practice in Bakersfield, California since 1981. He began his medical career at Northwestern University in Chicago where he completed his internship at Northwestern Hospital and his residency at the University of Wisconsin. He completed his fellowship training for Corneal & External Diseases at the University of California, San Diego. He has traveled extensively throughout the United States to participate in studies of LASIK and other forms of laser vision correction to resolve nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. In addition, Dr. Stainer has extensive experience with multiple types of lasers for aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
Glenn A. Kaprielian, O.D.
Dr. Kaprielian has practiced in Bakersfield since 1975 and joined Dr. Stainer’s LASIK practice in 1990. In 1993, he helped establish the new office, Southwest Eye Care and Laser. Dr. Kaprielian also has additional certification by the California State Board of Optometry to administer certain medications to treat a wide variety of eye disorders.
Cheree A. Wilhelmsen, O.D.
Dr. Wilhelmsen received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994 and became board-certified to treat and manage ocular disease in 1997. In addition she has received two Bachelor of Science degrees - one from the University of Oregon and one from the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Wilhelmsen has been married for twelve years and has one son. In her free time she enjoys reading, music, and spending time with her family.

Michael C. Raney, F.N.A.O.
Emily G. Marsh, O.D.
Dr. Emily Marsh joined the practice in 2002 after completing her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri in St. Louis that same year. A native of Kansas City, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Wichita State University in 1998, while a four-year member of the University’s Women’s Basketball team. Throughout Dr. Marsh’s optometric career, she has developed special interest and training in the treatment and management of ocular disease, including glaucoma, which she will be receiving additional credentialing for in early 2007. Dr. Marsh also provides general eye care for all ages of children and adults, as well as diabetic and surgical consultations.
Keith C. Miller, O.D.
Dr Keith Miller is a native of Denver Colorado. He moved to Bakersfield with his family and joined our practice in 2010. He performed his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado and completed his professional studies at Northeastern State University College of Optometry. He graduated magna cum laude in 2002. Dr Miller was a member of the honor society Beta Sigma Kappa while completing his education and received the Ocular Sciences Innovative Research Award.
Dr Miller’s primary interest is in refractive surgery. Over the last seven years he has worked with Lasik and other refractive surgeries providing evaluative, pre-operative and post-operative care for over ten thousand patients. In addition to refractive surgery his expertise includes ocular therapeutics, dry eye management, contact lenses and primary care. It is important for Dr Miller that he gets to know each patient. This knowledge helps him better understand each individual’s interests and vision requirements, so he can educate his patients about advancements in eye care.
Dr Miller enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids in the outdoors. He particularly likes hiking, camping and cycling. He is very excited to be in California and looks forward to all that the state and community offers.
