DR. GREGORY STAINER: After the LASIK procedure, patients go home and we try to have them sleep for three to four hours. There is some scratchiness and sandy sensation that they may experience, and if they can sleep through this period of time, they’ll experience it much less. After three or four hours, the patient’s awake and they’re able to have a nice supper and watch television and movies, and then they usually have a restful night’s sleep and return to the office the next morning for a follow-up examination.
