NIDA: Hi. My name is Nida and I am a patient of Dr. Stainers and I did have cataracts, and when he did the surgery, we had the option that I could get the multifocal implants. So we went ahead and did that, so that I could have 20/20 vision. My husband gave me that almost like a gift. It was an option that he let me choose it and I love it. I did it.
It was easy to do. I just went in, in the morning, they called me and it was just so fast and easy that I love being able to see 20/20. I’ve never been able to do that since I was a little kid. I can read up close. I can see far away. Even at the DMV, they checked my eyes. I don’t have to wear glasses ever at all. It’s great.
I went to Dr. Stainer because I had heard he was such a good doctor. Then when I went there, I found out that all the staff were really nice and they have a lot of experience. They know what’s going on. So if I had any questions about the surgery or anything, they could answer all my questions and they knew what they were talking about.
When you have really bad eyes like I did, I was so nearsighted that I couldn’t just wear glasses when I wanted to wear them, I had to wear glasses all the time and that’s indoors, outdoors, all the time. If I wanted to see anything, a movie, read a book or anything like that. No, I could read a book, but not a movie, I couldn’t drive or anything like that, so it’s, of course, very different. It’s wonderful.
Sometimes I still can’t believe it’s true. I’ll just go wow I can actually see these signs on the freeway or on the road and I really can see them without glasses and, I mean, I still can hardly believe it and, of course, close up I could see before, but I still can. I can read. I can see anything close up, you know, sewing or anything like that. It’s just like having 20/20 vision, which is really a treat because I haven’t had 20/20 vision since I was 10 years old, so it’s really neat for me. So I just don’t ever have to wear glasses. Now I can wear sunglasses when I go outside if I want to, but they’re not corrective vision sunglasses, so anyway, I’m a happy camper.
