DR. GREGORY STAINER: We offer a wide range of cosmetic and plastic procedures at Southwest Eye Care. We will begin sometimes with a blepharoplasty on a patient and then transcend them into an Intense Pulse Light treatment. Blepharoplasties are surgeries where we remove a strip of skin from their upper eyelid to allow wider and fuller vision. Sometimes patients will come in and they’ll have to tilt all the way back to see their computer or else tilt their head all the way back to see the green signs on the overpasses while on the freeway, and after surgery they are remarkably happy and improved.

As for the Intense Pulse Light treatments, these are treatments to actually remove unwanted pigmentation, unwanted vascular lesions especially around the nose, and also hair removal on the face. It’s just an outstanding procedure for rosacea patients and rosacea is actually a very undiagnosed dermatologic condition. Many women and also many men have rosacea that can also affect their eyes, so we began using the IPL treatment to actually improve the rosacea of the eyes by treating the rosacea of the skin and I think we’ve been very successful doing that procedure.
