Lashes should highlight the natural beauty of your eyes. However, short, thin lashes can make you appear tired and less alert. Though false eyelashes can temporarily enhance your lashes, they need to be removed each night, and they can get in the way of day-to-day activities. To provide patients with a more permanent solution in a clinical setting, our doctors and in-house cosmetologist at Southwest Eye Care and Laser in Bakersfield, CA, offer LATISSE®. This unique formula is designed to help patients achieve longer, darker, and fuller lashes in as little as 16 weeks.
LATISSE can help you achieve bold, beautiful lashes.
If you feel self-conscious about short or thin lashes, LATISSE may be the solution. During your consultation, we encourage you to share your goals and expectations for treatment. After reviewing your medical history, we can determine whether or not LATISSE is appropriate for you.
When prescribed by a doctor, LATISSE can be an excellent way to enhance your look without cumbersome false lashes or expensive, time-consuming extensions.
If you have an eye infection, sensitive eyelid skin, or are currently using medication to treat glaucoma or reduce your intraocular eye pressure, LATISSE may not be recommended. You should not use LATISSE if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, or you are pregnant or nursing.
LATISSE, or bimatoprost, is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use by patients who have insufficient eyelashes. This active ingredient increases the number of eyelash hairs that grow and elongates the period of growth.
As the treatment is applied at home rather than in our office, there are several steps you should take to ensure the safety and effectiveness of LATISSE:
Only apply cream to your upper lash area and remove excess with a tissue or cloth
Avoiding contamination by using a new applicator each night
Remove contact lenses prior to treatment
Remove all makeup prior to treatment
LATISSE is applied on a nightly basis or as directed by one of our doctors.
When used as directed, the risk of side effects is low. However, four percent of patients experience redness, an itching sensation, and general discomfort in and around the eye. If you develop conjunctivitis, a decrease in your vision, or sudden trauma to your eye while using LATISSE, you should visit our office immediately to determine whether you should continue with treatment.
Most patients are able to see changes in the length, fullness, and darkness of their lashes in only four to eight weeks. However, it takes approximately 16 weeks before the final results are visible. After 16 weeks, 78 percent of those using LATISSE saw a significant increase in eyelash prominence.
Keep in mind that LATISSE is only effective while it is being used, and your lashes will gradually revert to their previous appearance when you stop using the product. To maintain your new look, you should be committed to a nightly routine and ask one of our doctors about the long-term use of LATISSE.
When prescribed by a doctor, LATISSE can be an excellent way to enhance your look without cumbersome false lashes or expensive, time-consuming extensions. The only way to determine if you are a good candidate for LATISSE is to schedule a consultation. Call Southwest Eye Care and Laser at (661) 393-2331 or contact our team online.
