DR. GREGORY STAINER: Implantable contact lenses are the newest revolution in refractive surgery. They are excellent for patients who are very nearsighted or very farsighted and cannot have the LASIK procedure because their corneas are too thin or misshapen. The intraocular lens is inserted first through a small opening over the iris through the pupil and rests on the natural lens of the eye. This implantable contact lens provides excellent vision with minimal glare and halo at night. It’s been a wonderful addition to the refractive armamentarium.
